REACH – More than just a directive
The REACH Regulation is an EU regulation to protect human health and the environment from the risks posed by chemicals and to reduce animal testing by using alternative methods to assess the risks of substances.
It applies to all substances used in industrial processes as well as to chemicals used in everyday life, e.g. in cleaning agents, paints/lacquers or clothing.
At SRM, as a manufacturer of electronic components, we not only bear the burden of proof under the directive, but also take our responsibility for people and the environment and the sustainable, responsible use of resources and hazardous substances very seriously.
Parts and components selected by us always fulfil the requirements of the REACH regulation.

We check all components for REACH compliance before they are used and consult directly with our customers if a provided part or a component with a manufacturer link does not appear to comply with the regulations according to our test.
Together we find an alternative component that fulfils the requirements of modern environmental and personal protection.
The main objectives of REACH
- Protecting human health and the environment from the risks associated with the handling of chemicals
- Improving transparency regarding the handling of chemical substances
- Promotion of alternative methods for the assessment of
chemicals to reduce animal testing - Ensuring the free movement of substances in the internal market
- Strengthening the competitiveness and innovative strength of the European chemical industry
All substances of which a manufacturer uses more than 1 tonne/year must be registered with the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) so that the low-risk use of the respective chemical can be ensured within the framework of the processes of the notifying company.
